Kitara FC Vs Mbale Heroes FC, 4pm at Royals Park, Butema
Kitara Football Club will host Mbale Heroes today Friday evening at Royal park in Butema looking for the win that will move them away from the relegation zone.
After a poor start of the season for pride of Bunyoro they are now finally finding their feet at this level of football.
The Masindi based side sit in 14th position on the Uganda Premier League table while Mbale Heroes lie a spot lower in 15th with eight points as well.
The last match the Royals hosted, they beat UPDF (4-0) before picking a crucial point away in Kitende against second placed Vipers and they will be aiming to build on momentum this evening when they play Asaph Mwebaze’s side.
The visitors have not been good travelers as they have only drawn one and lost four of their last five away fixtures. They held fellow new comers Lugazi to a one all draw but lost to Express FC, Wakiso Giants, Police FC and Mbarara City.
Mbale Heroes won in their last league encounter against Bright Stars (1-0). Cosia Waiswa’s lone strike was the difference in that game, giving this side maximum points.
Mbale Heroes’ prior encounters to that win saw them go winless in seven games, losing five and drawing two. However, this team scored only five goals in 10 matches this season, conceding 12. With 8 points from a possible 15 this season, Mbale Heroes sit 15th in the standings, two points ahead of bottom-placed Bright Stars.
Regardless, Mbale Heroes come into this encounter off a morale boosting home victory over Bright Stars FC and Kitara’s Wasswa Bbossa is aware of the threat the opponent pose.
He said, “They are a stubborn side with an experienced coach but we can’t afford to lose points at home, we are very focused on lifting our performance and picking maximum points.”
Team news:
The Royals welcome back Ivan Sserubiri from a muscle problem that kept him out of the UPDF and Vipers games.
Team skipper Maxwell Owachigiu and Jude Ssemugabi also returns after recovering from sickness that saw them miss the trip to Kitende last week
