The Rajiv Ruparelia Memorial Gulu Rally, is scheduled for October 9-12, it is the second-last round of the 2025 Uganda National Rally Championship.
The event comes finding the championship contenders all ready and eager to fight for points.
As drivers will be fighting for points, the rally fraternity will be remembering the life of late rally driver, Rajiv Ruparelia who died in an accident a few months back.
Last year, this same event almost sealed the championship as Dr. Moustapha Mukasa who came looking for just podium finishes in the last two events (Gulu and Hoima rallies) registered a DNF.
With Ronald Ssebuguzi currently leading the championship, the rally promises to be a thrilling contest. However, given the tight competition and the points system, competitors eye the championship not to be sealed in this event.
Sebuguzi, the Championship leader, having consistently performed well with two 2nd-place finishes and a 3rd-place finish in previous rounds. He is closely followed by Ponsiano Lwakataka who is Just 6 points shy of the championship lead, having stormed to four wins in five rallies. Musa Ssegaabwe, trails Ssebuguzi by 33.5 points.
The intense competition and narrow margins between drivers might suggest that the championship will be decided in the last rally. Drivers like Lwakataka, Sebuguzi, and Ssegaabwe will come in Gulu strategizing carefully to maximize their points and secure the championship title.
