Rally driver Hassan Alwi has spiced up the second last national rally championship calendar event with his appearance on the final entry list.
The Rajiv Ruparelia Memorial Gulu Rally is scheduled for this weekend of October 9th-12th with a total of 27 drivers confirming to take part.
Alwi who last appeared in the Stabex Bugerere Rally in July, debuting his new Ford Fiesta Proto which has Subaru specs, is among the 27 confirmed drivers.
The mere fact that his name with co-driver Musa Nsubuga appeared on the list, it’s difficult to write him off on the event win thus raising the event competition level.
The championship battle is more between three times NRC champion, Ronald Ssebuguzi and two time NRC champion, Ponsiano Lwakataka. A total of 6 points separates the two with Ssebuguzi leading on 241 points and Lwakataka (235). Third placed Musa Ssegaabwe is 33.5 points adrift the log leader.
