Hassan Alwi Jr. and Musa Nsubuga ended Day 1 of the EMC Soroti-Katakwi Rally on top, and they came into Teso with serious momentum.
Alwi won the NRC season opener in Mbale and was named Real Stars Sportsman of March 2026 for it. He currently leads the championship with 35 points.
In the Ford Proto powered by a Mitsubishi Evolution engine, and with Nsubuga on the notes, the pair looked in control on Teso’s rough, dusty gravel. Their pace and car control through the new stages put them at the front heading into the final day.
Kansiime in the Evo 8 is their closest challenger
Everything comes down to tomorrow’s 12km Power Stage. If Alwi brings it home clean, it will be win No.2 for the season and a big step toward the NRC crown he’s been chasing.
Puncture Costs Ssegabwe
It was a tougher day for Musa Ssegabwe. Driving the Skoda Fabia N5 with Mathias Kiyegga, he suffered a heavy puncture in CS2.
The time loss dropped the crew down to 13th overall.
With 29 cars starting the first-ever national rally in Teso, and no prior pace notes, Day 2 promises no room for mistakes on the 136.02km of competitive distance.
The rally wraps up Saturday in Katakwi.
