Thirteen-time Uganda Premier League champions KCCA FC will be buoyed by the return of skipper Julius Poloto after a relatively lengthy spell on the sidelines.
Poloto has been nursing an injury for over six weeks but returns just in time for the big test against the Rwenzori Lions at the MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo, on Tuesday .
Defender Hassan Muhamud is also back in full-team training and Etienne Katenga has fully recovered from injury, and the player is part of the matchday squad to face Rwenzori Lions FC.
Mustafa Mujuzi has commenced light training with the physio as he continues his recovery from a thigh injury. He is ruled out of the cup game and Steven Munguchi is ruled out due to illness.
Teenage midfielder Brain Ijara and defender Gavin Kizito are away on national duty.
KCCA FC eliminated West Nile regional league side Kuluva Rainbow FC in the round of 32, while Rwenzori Lions FC eliminated Buhimba United on spot kicks.
This will be the first time both sides facing each other.
The 13-time league champions, KCCA FC, recently won two league games in a row and will be looking for their third consecutive win in all competitions since October 2024.
The fixture will also be KCCA’s first ever in the Uganda Cup under the floodlights and also the first home fixture in the cup since February 2022.
KCCA FC has scored 4 goals in two games in this year’s edition of the Stanbic Uganda Cup.
Both Usama Arafat and Derrick Nsibambi are KCCA’s top scorers, with two goals each in this tournament.

KCCA’s last two games in the Uganda Cup eliminated Kuluva Rainbow FC 1-2 (Round of 32) and 403 Brigade FC 0-2 (Round of 64) While Rwenzori Lions FC’s eliminated Buhimba United on penalties 4-3 after a 0-0 draw (Round of 32) and Busoga United FC 2-1 (at round of 64).
