Uganda’s U-17 side marched into next year’s continental showpiece with a commanding 3–0 victory over Ethiopia in the CECAFA Zonal Qualifiers semifinal at Abebe Bikila Stadium. The win not only booked their place in the TotalEnergies AFCON U-17 finals but also underlined the team’s growing maturity on the regional stage.

After a measured first half, the Cubs shifted gears once play resumed. Lorian Lwesibawa broke the deadlock early in the second period, finishing off a spell of pressure with precision. Uganda struck again almost immediately, this time through Thomas Ogema, whose calm finish put the visitors firmly in control.

Ethiopia struggled to find a way back, and Uganda punished them once more deep into the half. Lwesibawa, enjoying a brilliant afternoon, curled in a free kick to complete his brace and put the game beyond reach.

Uganda’s backline stayed organised and untroubled for most of the match, closing out the result with authority.

The victory sets up a familiar showdown in Tuesday’s final, where Uganda will face Tanzania as they attempt to defend their regional crown and wrap up the qualifiers in style.
