It was a day of shared spoils at Kasarani on Friday as the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) returned to action with two high-stakes encounters. Both matches ended in draws, leaving the mid-table battle and the relegation dogfight as tight as ever.

At the Kasarani Annex, Sofapaka were left rueing missed opportunities after a late equalizer from Bidco United forced a 1-1 draw.

After a goalless first half characterized by physical play and tactical caution, the game finally burst into life in the 80th minute. Winger Clinton Miheso showed nerves of steel to slot home a penalty, seemingly setting “Batoto ba Mungu” on course for a much-needed three points.
However, the lead lasted only three minutes.

Bidco United responded with urgency, and Herman Mwambegu silenced the home fans with a clinical header in the 83rd minute to ensure the points were split. The result leaves Sofapaka languishing in 17th place with 13 points, while Bidco United remains just above the danger zone in 15th.

Goalless Stalemate in “Bankers” vs “Police” Clash
Across the way at the Kasarani Main Stadium, a highly anticipated clash between KCB FC and Police FC ended in a 0-0 stalemate. Despite both teams boasting some of the most expensive squads in the league, clear-cut chances were few and far between.

Of note to Ugandan followers, striker Yafeesi Kalemba Mubiru was named on the bench for KCB but remained an unused substitute throughout the match.

The draw keeps KCB in 7th position with 21 points, while Police FC sits in 6th with 22 points as the race for the top five heats up.

Following Friday’s results, the log remains incredibly tight. Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards are currently inseparable at the top, both tied on 27 points.
