The National Badminton League delivered thrilling action on Saturday at the Lugogo Indoor Arena, with new entrants SR Kuku and Mbogo High emerging as the standout performers on match day two.
SR Kuku continued their impressive debut campaign in the Corporate League, registering back-to-back victories to maintain a strong start to the season. The side cruised to a dominant 5-0 win over KBC Corporate Badminton Club before defeating Dream Team 4-1 later in the day.
Mbogo High Corporate also bounced back in style after suffering a 4-1 loss to SH Badminton Club. They responded emphatically with a commanding 5-0 victory against Baryan Badminton Club Bukoto.
KCB Corporate showcased their experience with a convincing 5-0 triumph over SH Badminton Club.
Speaking after the matches, one team representative said:
“Today we began our first matches in the league. We played to our best, lost some matches but again we won others. We brought in new players and we hope they will help us defend our championship.”
In the Professional League, Seroma Christian High School opened their campaign in dominant fashion with a 5-0 victory over KCB Badminton Club.
Mbogo High Warriors then edged SR Kuku 3-2 in one of the most competitive fixtures of the day before comfortably dispatching KBC Badminton Club 5-0.
Despite that narrow defeat, SR Kuku recovered strongly, beating Seroma Christian High School 4-1 and later overcoming Sharing Badminton Club by the same scoreline.
Another player reflected on the team’s performance, saying:
“Our performance wasn’t that good compared to week one. Though we were able to win against Sharing, we lost to Mbogo, but we believe next time we shall strategize well to see that we win.”
Sharing Badminton Team wrapped up the day with a dominant 5-0 win over KBC Badminton Club as teams continued battling for early advantage in the league standings.
