The Drug Express Rally Team (DERT) crew members Dr. Mukasa Moustapha and co-driver Sserwoga Geoffrey are stable and steadily recovering following an accident on Day 2 of the KCB Soroti-Katakwi Rally.

The incident occurred on Saturday, July 26, 2026, during the Steadfast Forwarders stage in Katakwi, about 4km to the Flying Finish. A mechanical failure in the steering system on their Mitsubishi Evo 9 led to a high-speed, head-on impact with a large tree.

Dr. Mukasa underwent surgery for a fractured knee joint as Sserwoga sustained pelvic soft tissue injuries and are all receiving appropriate care at Kisubi Hospital. Specialists are pleased with their progress and expect both to be discharged in the coming days.

The team extended sincere thanks to: Dr. Oketch and the Emergency Medical Team for their professionalism, prompt first aid, and flawless evacuation to Kampala as well as the staff at Katakwi Hospital for immediate care, Community members near the crash site, rally fans, fellow crews, and well-wishers for the overwhelming support and encouragement.
Both Mukasa and Sserwoga are recovering and ask for continued thoughts and prayers as they complete their rehabilitation.

That’s good news to hear, glad they’re both getting better after such a rough incident.
