FUFA serves bans to 12 individuals alleged to have involved in match fixing

Referee Ali Kaddu has been banned for life by the FUFA from all football activities. On the list he is with other 11 sports personalities including former BUL and Busoga United CEO Ahmed Kongola, who was given a five-year ban.

According to the statement issued by the FUFA communications manager Ahmed Hussein Marsha today evening, the ban targeted individual who are found guilty for match fixing incidents as per the investigation by the FUFA Ethics and Disciplinary Committee.

“The FUFA Ethics and Disciplinary Committee has banned 12 individuals from all football related activities for involvement in a match manipulation scheme orchestrated by a foreign betting syndicate that targeted a number of fixtures in the 2023/2024 season,” read part of statement.

“One of the persons has been banned for life while the rest were handed lengthy sanctions. The Investigatory Chamber of the FUFA Ethics and Disciplinary Committee conducted investigations and the Adjudicatory held hearings against several football individuals for alleged breach of Article 43 of the FUFA Ethics and Disciplinary Code.”

The statement also indicated that, the sanctions imposed on the individuals were taken based on the different mitigating and aggravating circumstances for each party in regard to the degree of involvement in the match-fixing and the level of assistance and cooperation with the investigation.

Banned individuals include;

1.            Kaddu Ali – banned for life

2.            Sajjabi Geoffrey – banned for 10 years

3.            Kongola Ahmed – banned for 5 years

4.            Epieru Richard – banned for 3 years

5.            Atuheirwe Joyce – banned for 3 years

6.            Nabisere Tausi – banned for 3 years

7.            Okello Simon Peter – banned for 3 years

8.            Nantatya Godwin – banned for 3 years

9.            Muyaga Khalid – banned for 2 Years

10.         Noor Hassan – banned for 1 Year

11.         Kiyemba Latif – banned for 1 Year

12.         Atuhaire Docus – banned for 1 Year
