NAIROBI, KENYA – The Kenyan Premier League (KPL) title race continues to heat up after KCB FC Thursday secured a vital 2-1 victory over Ulinzi Stars at the Ulinzi Sports Complex.

The win moves the “Bankers” to within just two points of league leaders Kenya Police FC.

Set-Piece Mastery Decides the Contest
In a match dominated by aerial prowess, KCB took the lead in the 42nd minute when Stephen Etyang connected with a well-placed cross to head home the opener.

Ulinzi Stars, playing on their home turf, fought back in the second half. Their persistence paid off in the 67th minute when Paul Okoth found the back of the net to level the score, setting up a tense final twenty minutes.

However, KCB’s dominance in the air proved to be the difference maker. In the 85th minute, Jack Ong’anya rose highest to head in the winning goal, ensuring all three points headed back to Nairobi.
Ugandan Interest:

Yafeesi Kalemba Mubiru
For Ugandan football fans following the KPL, the focus was on forward Yafeesi Mubiru.

Despite being named in the matchday squad, the Ugandan international remained an unused substitute on the KCB bench throughout the encounter.

Mubiru, who has been looking to cement his place in the Bankers’ starting XI, will be hoping for a run-out in the coming fixtures as the league intensity increases.

League Standings & What’s Next
The result sees a significant shift in the mid-table and title-chasing brackets:

KCB FC climb to 6th position with 18 points, breathing down the necks of the top five.

Ulinzi Stars remain stagnant in 11th place, stuck on 13 points after 12 rounds of play.

The Kenyan Premier League Round 12 action continues this Saturday with several high-stakes matches slated for various grounds across the country.
