Local knowledge proved to be the ultimate weapon at the 2026 WRC Safari Rally as Kenyan drivers delivered a masterclass in endurance, sweeping the top four positions in the FIA African Rally Championship (ARC) category.

Leading the charge was the formidable Karan Patel. Finishing 17th overall in his Skoda Fabia, Patel was the highest-placed regional driver, successfully navigating the “Muddy Mayhem” that characterized the final days. His victory in the ARC class strengthens his position as the region’s man to beat.

He was closely followed by Aakif Virani and Samman Vohra, who finished 18th and 19th overall respectively.

Both drivers showed remarkable maturity, managing their pace through the high-attrition stages of Soysambu and Sleeping Warrior.

One of the most inspiring stories of the weekend came from Nikhil Sachania. The KCB-sponsored driver put in a heroic shift to finish 23rd overall, securing a silver podium in the WRC3 category.

His performance remains a beacon of resilience for sports enthusiasts across East Africa.

As the Safari Rally concludes, the regional dominance seen this weekend sends a clear message: East African rallying is entering a new era of competitiveness and professional excellence.
