Shabana FC has sparked a standoff with the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) after refusing to move their upcoming home match against Gor Mahia from Gusii Stadium to Nairobi’s Kasarani Stadium.
The FKF cited safety concerns following crowd trouble during their previous encounter, but the Gusii-based club isn’t buying it.
“Not Our Home”
In a sharp statement, Shabana argued that relocating a home fixture to the opponent’s registered home ground (Kasarani) destroys the spirit of fair play.
“Kasarani and Nyayo are registered home grounds for Gor Mahia. It is unacceptable for our home fixture to be moved to our opponent’s backyard without consultation or justification,” the club declared.
Integrity at Stake
Shabana maintains that the decision lacks transparency and unfairly penalizes them.
They insist that until they receive official, justified communication, they still consider Gusii Stadium the match venue.
The ball is now in the FKF’s court to enforce the move, or the “Tore Bobe” faithful get their wish to host the champions at home.

Really interesting situation unfolding! It seems like a fair stance to take against what feels like an unreasonable demand.
