The President of the Republic of Uganda Yoweri Kaguta M7 has bailed out the Federation of Motorsport Clubs (FMU) with Sh20m.
The Money was delivered by the State Minister for Tourism Hon. Martin Mugarra Bahinduka who pledged to wire the cash on FMU Account by close of business on May 8,2028.

Mugarra announced the pledge on behalf of the at the official Shell V-Power Pearl of Africa Uganda Rally Ceremony Flag off at Lake View Hotel on May 7,2028.
Mugarra assured the organisers of the continental event that the government and particularly president M7 is committed to Supporting sports in the Country and especially motor rally which has promoted domestic Tourism and contributed much to the economy of many communities.

“As government we are committed to the promotion of sports in the country and especially motor rallies which have promoted a lot of Tourism. The president has sent me to assure you that he would have loved to be part of this rally and he gave sh20m which I will coordinate with the state house accountant so that by the end of tomorrow it is on FMU account,” Mugarra said.
FMU president Jimmy Akena lauded the government for support and the leadership of Mbarara city and district for the support they extended to the organising committee of the Pearl of Africa Uganda Rally.

The rally that is the second round of the Africa Rally championship has attracted 54crews from Uganda, Tanzania, Kenya, Ethiopia and India.
The event that started on wednesday will end on saturday May 9,2026 with the prize giving ceremony at Lake View Hotel.

That’s a significant investment to support motorsport in Uganda; hopefully it helps boost competition.
