Mawokota County registered a crucial 1-0 victory over record champions Gomba on Sunday, July 5, 2026, to record their second consecutive win in the 2026 Masaza Cup and climb to second place in the group standings with six points.
Francis balaba scored the only goal of the match, giving the three-time champions all three points in a fiercely contested encounter played at Buwama Community Grounds.

A highly tense match was overshadowed by drama on the touchline, resulting in three red cards being shown to members of the technical benches.
Gomba received two red cards, with head coach Felix Ssekabuzza and assistant coach Lawrence Nduga both being sent off. Mawokota also had one member of its technical staff dismissed.
The confrontation erupted after Mawokota was found to have 12 players on the pitch, sparking protests from the Gomba technical bench. The incident escalated into a heated exchange between both technical teams, prompting the referee to issue three red cards in an effort to restore order.

The victory leaves Mawokota on six points ahead of next weekend’s fixture against Busiro, while Gomba will look to bounce back when they take on Bulemeezi in a bid to revive their campaign.
Elsewhere across Matchday 3, Ssese, Buvuma, Bugerere, Mawogola, Buddu, Butambala, Busujju and Kyaggwe all registered victories.

Mawogola secured their first win of the tournament with a hard-fought 1-0 home triumph over Kooki at Magyo Playground.
Five of the weekend’s fixtures ended 1-0, with Busujju, Mawokota, Buddu, Butambala and Mawogola edging Kyaddondo, Gomba, Buweekula, Ssingo and Kooki respectively.

The biggest victory of the round came on Saturday when island side Ssese thrashed Busiro 3-0. Benon Vianey Kigenyi opened the scoring in the 15th minute before Raymond Kayemba netted a late brace in the 83rd and 85th minutes to seal an emphatic win.
Tournament favourites Kyaggwe maintained their perfect start with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Bulemeezi at Bishop Senior Secondary School in Mukono, making it three wins from three matches. Buvuma also continued their impressive form with a 2-1 victory over Buluuli to claim their second win of the campaign.

Bugerere produced an impressive performance to defeat Kabula 2-0, thanks to a brace from Eria Bukenya.
