UGANDAN international Steven Mukwala has been instrumental in Simba’s cruise to the CAF Confederation Cup semis after scoring two goals in his team’s 4-1 penalty win over Al Masry of Egypt at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam this afternoon.
Mukwala scored the second goal for Simba midway in the first half before scoring one of four spot kicks. Simba netted all four spot kicks while Al Masry converted one while two others were saved by Simba’s custodian, Mussa Camara.

Simba, the lone Tanzanian envoys, claimed the CAF Confederation Cup semis following a penalty shootout victory. Shomari Kapombe’s fourth penalty assured Simba’s semis spot.
Brilliant saves from Musa Camara orchestrated Simba’s race to their historical semis. Camara saved two spot kicks while Kibu Dennis, Jean Ahoua, and Steven Mukwala converted for Simba.
Simba, who lost 2-0 to Al Masry away in Egypt during their first leg match, started brightly today with two goals from Ellie Mpanzu and Steven Mukwala giving Simba a 2-0 lead at the end of the first half.

They failed to add a goal in the second half leading the encounter to a 2-2 aggregate draw at the end of the tense 90 minutes.
Simba will play in the semi-final stage of the CAF Confederation Cup for the first time after many futile attempts in the past.
