The third edition SOM Kiboga Annual Chess tournament concluded at the Youngcrane primary school in Kiboga, Uganda with notable performances in both the boy’s open and girls in primary and secondary school Categories.
In secondary category Nakayembe Christine demonstrated her prowess, clinching the tournament among girls after securing six and half points from eight games. ssemwogere Shafik emerged victorious in the boy’s with seven and half points while in primary school category Nakanda Esther won the girls category and Ntege Elijah won the overall winners in boys category .
The one day tournament attracted 122 participants from 8 different schools in Kiboga where SOM Chess Academy conducts chess trainings on a weekly basis.
They competed according to the age groups including U10, U-12,U14,U16, junior and open in both girls and boys respectively and featured 8 rounds with a 12- minutes time control.

The winners were awarded trophies, medals and certificates for their outstanding performance. They will also later participate in the SOM Chess Academy Interprojecr Chess Championship which is to be held later this year.
SOM Chess Academy and Bilu Uganda organized the third edition of the Kiboga Annual Chess tournament.
Som Chess Academy uses chess game to transform lives through chess with the theme “One move at a time”. Its owned by Robert Katende and was founded in 2004.
