Nemostars Volleyball Club off for Africa Club Championship in Libya

The Uganda’s six times volleyball club Champions, Nemostars, has set off to Libya ahead of the 2025 Africa Club Championship in Libya.

The team was flagged off on April 16th 2025, carrying the hopes of a nation and eager to see them secure top spot at this year’s edition of the continental tournament after finishing eighth at the 2021 Men’s Africa Club Championship.

The competition will take place at Misrata, Libya and will commence from today April 17th to 30th featuring 32 clubs. Egyptian giants Al Ahly will be looking to defend their title.

Uganda’s most prominent professional player Daudi Okello, has been training with the six-time league champions and is a big boost to the team ahead of the Championship.

Team captain George Aporu, a long-serving member of the squad, expressed confidence in the team’s readiness.

“Over the years, the team has grown in performance, and we’re hoping to continue that improvement,” Aporu stated.

Nemostars’ best performance at the Africa Club Championship came in 2019, when they finished sixth in Egypt. They have been regular participants in the tournament since 2013.
