Nkumba University put on a commanding display against ISBAT University, securing a 5-0 victory at Kanyanya Grounds in Kawempe to move to the top of Group A in the Pepsi University Football League.

From the start, Nkumba asserted their dominance, racing to a 3-0 lead within 21 minutes, courtesy of goals from Abbey Kavuma, Saadi Mukiibi, and Ismail Lubega. ISBAT’s defensive struggles were evident, as they failed to cope with Nkumba’s attacking intensity.

Despite playing at home, ISBAT found it difficult to match Nkumba’s pace and aggression, allowing the holders to take complete control of the match.

Nkumba University continued their dominance, limiting ISBAT to zero shots on target in the opening half-hour. Marvin Kagimu’s goal in the 32nd minute extended Nkumba’s lead to 4-0, effectively sealing the game before halftime.

With a comfortable advantage, Nkumba eased off in the second half but still managed to add a fifth goal through substitute Joshua Komori in the 73rd minute. Despite creating numerous chances, they were wasteful in the closing stages, missing opportunities to further widen the scoreline.

The emphatic win keeps Nkumba in a strong position for the quarterfinals, showcasing their attacking strength and defensive solidity.

Nkumba University’s dominant 5-0 win over ISBAT marked their third victory of the campaign and their second consecutive win after edging Busitema University 2-1 last week in Entebbe.

With this result, Nkumba now leads Group A with 10 points from five games, overtaking Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU), who dropped to second place with eight points but have a game in hand against third-placed Busitema University (six points).

Nkumba’s final group-stage fixture against IUIU in Entebbe will be a decisive one, with the winner likely to finish top of the group and secure a strong position heading into the quarterfinals.

ISBAT University’s struggles in the Pepsi University Football League continued as they remained bottom of Group A with just one point from five matches, confirming their elimination. Their final game will be an away fixture against Busitema University in Busia, but it will be purely for pride.

Meanwhile, the action continues today with a crucial Group D clash between joint leaders Bugema University and Kampala International University (KIU), both tied on nine points from four games. This encounter will likely determine the group leader and could have major implications for quarterfinal qualification.
