Rwanda has been officially admitted as the 125th member of the International Motorcycling Federation (FIM) after being approved by the General Assembly held on Friday, December 5, 2025, in Lausanne, Switzerland.

The Rwanda Automobile and Motorcycle Association (RAC) president Gakwaya Christian said that their admission to FIM membership is a major step forward for the wider motorsports community in the country, and further positions Rwanda as a new hub for various sports on the African continent.

He added that it reflects the strong confidence Rwanda has in its capabilities and long-term goals to develop the sport, as it prepares to host major international competitions in the future.

In his speech at the General Assembly, FIM President Jorge Viegas welcomed Rwanda to the wider global motorsports community, expressing his joy at welcoming the 125th member.

Rwanda, which joined the FIM just one year later, has welcomed the General Assembly and the FIA ​​Awards, reflecting the confidence the world continues to place in it in its vision to develop motorsports. The RAC announced that from January 2026, races such as Motocross, Enduro, ‘Trials’ and many others will be included in the National Motorsports Championship calendar, opening up new opportunities and helping to promote talents across the country.
