Preparations for the 2026 National Rally Championships are heating up! The calendar is set to kick off in late January, and drivers are already shifting gears literally.

The buzz started last week with SEGAMU14 Rally Team’s Musa Ssegaabwe, who’s currently in Spain testing their new Skoda Fabia RS N5. Now, 2WD driver Samuel Watendwa has joined the action, unveiling his fresh ride: a Toyota RunX, formerly Robert Zikusooka’s machine.
This car has been off the grid for eight-nine years, but Watendwa invested 55 million Ugandan shillings to revive it.

“I’ve been racing a Toyota FX, but with this upgrade, fans should expect the best. I’m ready to rumble for the title next year,” Watendwa who won the 2019 2WD championship said with confidence.
The Toyota RunX last competed in the 2016 National Rally Calendar, notably securing a 2WD win in Fort Portal against Ismail Ortega.
