The Tanzania Premier League Board (TPLB) has officially unveiled the fixture schedule for the 2026/27 NBC Premier League season, set to begin on August 14, 2026, and conclude on May 16, 2027.

A highlight of the schedule is the eagerly anticipated first Kariakoo Derby between Simba SC and Young Africans SC (Yanga), slated for October 10, 2026. Simba will host the opening derby at the newly renovated Uhuru Stadium in Dar es Salaam, with kickoff at 7:00 p.m. local time. The return fixture will take place on February 6, 2027, with Yanga hosting at the same venue.

The full fixture list features 240 matches, each with confirmed dates, kickoff times, and venues. This comprehensive schedule demonstrates the league’s commitment to wrapping up the season in time for preparations ahead of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations, which Tanzania will co-host with Kenya and Uganda.

With only 23 days until the league starts, teams face a challenging season due to limited preparation time. While some clubs have already begun training, others are just starting their preparations, all aiming to be ready for a competitive campaign. This season also welcomes three new teams: Kagera Sugar, Geita Gold FC, and Polisi Tanzania.

Particularly, Yanga and Azam FC face tough tasks in their first 10 matches, reflecting the competitive nature of the upcoming season.

In continental competitions, Young Africans SC and Simba SC will represent Tanzania in the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League, while Azam FC and Singida Black Stars FC, who finished third and fourth respectively, will compete in the TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup.

The 2026/27 season promises intense competition as teams battle to secure their place both domestically and continentally.
