While the eyes of the continent are on AFCON, a new giant is rising just across the border. Jamus Soccer Club, the ambitious South Sudanese outfit home to Uganda Cranes forward Jude Ssemugabi, has sent shockwaves through East African football by announcing a massive overhaul of its technical bench and playing squad.

In a flurry of official announcements, the club—popularly known as “The Buffaloes”—has confirmed the arrival of a high-profile head coach and a string of international stars, signaling their intent to dominate both domestic and CAF competitions.
The “Ethiopian Guardiola” Takes Charge
The biggest statement of intent is the appointment of Wubetu Abate as Head Coach on a three-year deal. Abate is a household name in African football, having recently managed the Ethiopian National Team.

Nicknamed “Guardiola” for his sophisticated tactical approach and obsession with possession-based football, Abate’s arrival suggests a massive shift in Jamus SC’s identity.
The club stated that this appointment marks a “new era” focused on building a formidable squad that aligns with their massive financial investment and trophy-hunting ambitions.
To support him, the club also confirmed Wilson Marconi as the new Assistant Head Coach on a renewable one-season contract to strengthen the technical staff.

A Midfield Overhaul: El-Sini and Kamana Join the Fray
To implement Abate’s “Guardiola-style” football, the club has reinforced its “engine room” with two major signings:
Emad El-Sini (Sudan): In a massive domestic coup, Jamus has signed the versatile Sudanese international from giants Al-Hilal SC. El-Sini, who can play as a defensive midfielder or center-back, brings invaluable continental experience to the backline.

Kamana Karim (Burundi): The Burundian midfield maestro joins from Aigle Noir CS on a two-year deal. Karim, who recently impressed during trials at Al-Hilal, is expected to provide the vision and strength needed to control games in the South Sudan Premier League.

Firepower from West Africa
The Buffaloes have also looked to West Africa for flair, securing the signature of Ivorian winger Doumbia Alassane. The youngster joins from San Pedro on a long-term permanent deal that keeps him at the club until 2028. His pace and dribbling on the flanks are expected to provide plenty of goal-scoring opportunities for our very own Jude Ssemugabi.
