Tanzania U19 beat Uganda in Easter ODI series opener

A strong performance from Tanzania U19 saw them secure a 3-wicket victory over Uganda U19 in the opening match of the Easter Youth ODI Series 2025 in Kampala this evening.

After opting to bowl first, the visitors’ bowlers set the tone early, restricting Uganda U19 to 160 all out in 34.2 overs. Khalidy Amiri led the attack with an impressive 3 wickets for 22 runs, while Augustine Meya Mwamele (2/23) and Mohamed Simba Mbaki (2/42) provided key breakthroughs.

Chasing 161, batters held their nerve to get the job done in 39.1 overs. Mohamed Simba Mbaki starred with the bat, scoring a vital 41 off 40 balls, supported by Dylan Manish Thakrar (30 off 23) and Augustine Meya Mwamele (26 off 53).

The best player of the Match was Mohamed Simba Mbaki, who was honoured for his all-round contribution.

Tanzania Cricket Association (TCA) has lauded the team for the good start.

“A great start to the series as our boys carry this momentum forward. Let’s keep supporting the team,” said TCA through its spokesman, Ateef Salim.
