Uganda May not topped the medal table but up impressive performance at the 2025 Kampala International Feature Series badminton tournament clinching seven bronze Medals at the Climax of the tournament yesterday evening at the MTN Indoor Arena in Lugogo.
The 4th edition of the Kampala International Feature Series badminton tournament held from Thursday 25th September to Sunday 28th September at MTN indoor Arena was dominated by Indian players .
The four days tournament attracted 86 participants from 19 countries across the world including Uganda, Egypt, Malaysia India, Switzerland , United Arab Emirates and Myanmar with targeting to collect more points.
India and Malaysia dominated the competition, sweeping multiple golds in singles, doubles, and mixed categories. But it was Uganda’s resilience and rising talent that won hearts and this year’s edition Uganda had a team of 46 participants.
Muzafaru Lubega and Husina Kobugabe won bronze in Mixed doubles, Gladys Mbabazi and Husina Kobugabe also won bronze for Uganda in women doubles, in men’s doubles, Fred Kirabu and Ivan Mayega won bronze the 7th bronze medal for Uganda was won by Harshita Singh.
Husina kobugabe who has managed to win 2 bronze medals says Uganda’s performance has improved compared to the past years despite the fact that they failed to win gold or silver.
Simon Mugabi, the Chief Executive Officer of the Uganda Badminton Association (UBA), praised the tournament’s success, saying it provided local players with valuable exposure.
