Uganda’s motocross team, ‘The MX Cranes’ had a thrilling win in the first round of the FIM Central African Motocross Championship (CAC) held at the Smart Beach Race Track in Mityana on April 19-20, 2025. They beat Tanzania to set the first feet on the championship win.
Ugandan riders swept most of the podium positions across multiple categories, showcasing their skill and speed on the sandy Mityana circuit as Kenya’s motocross team didn’t appear leaving Tanzanian to battle Uganda alone.

In the event that also doubled as round three of the national motocross championship, riders in various classes including MX125cc, MX65cc, and MX Vets, with notable performances from Gift Ssebuguzi, Jerome Mubiru, Miguel Katende, Jonathan Katende, Hellenah Birungi, Ethan Katek, Rogers Ssebunya among others had Uganda collecting a total of 2011 points with Tanzania managizing.
Tanzania collected 180 points with most of these (123) coming from MX1 class as 56 came from MX2. Uganda’s most point collecting class was MX65cc were the likes of Ethan Musede, Larry Ssekamwa, Jude Musede, Haiden Kaliisa, Jamairah Makumbi, Norah Akao among others collected a mammoth of 393 points.

MX50 snr riders were the second best performers on the MX Cranes as they brought on board 381 points thanks to Hellenah Birungi, Abigail Katende and Abigail Muwanguzi who shared the podium places respectively before others came in with more accumulative points.
