Ugandan rally driver Hassan Alwi has unveiled his new Ford Proto, built in Finland by Eskrim under the guidance of Finnish rally driver Jari Ketomaa.
The car will make its debut in the fourth round of the Uganda National Rally Championship, scheduled for July 10th-12th in Jinja and Kayunga.
Alwi’s Thoughts on the New Car
Alwi described the new car as a “slight upgrade” since it’s similar to the Subaru he’s been driving for years. “Rallying keeps me fresh, and I’m ready to push in this event,” he said. Alwi added that it took six months to prepare the car, and his team is now ready to go.
Bugerere Stabex EMC Rally Details
The rally, sponsored by Ntenjeru South MP Amos Lugoloobi and Stabex fueling company, will cover over 300 km. The itinerary includes:
- Day 1: 111.74 km, with 66.26 km of competitive stages in Jinja, including a night section.
- Day 2: 175.72 km, with 88.20 km of competitive stages.
Alwi and his team are set to face a challenging competition in Jinja and Kayunga with drivers fighting for championship points.
The 2025 National Rally Championship is currently led by Ronald Ssebuguzi with 142 points, followed closely by Musa Ssegaabwe (132.5 points) and Ponsiano Lwakataka (117 points). The rally promises to be an exciting event
