The Uganda National Boxing Team, affectionately known as “The Bombers,” has returned home to a hero’s welcome after a remarkable performance at the 2025 Africa Zone 3 Boxing Championships in Nairobi, Kenya. The team finished second overall, behind Congo, with an impressive haul of 15 medals.

Fatuma Nabikolo, Emily Nakalema, Aziz Ringo, Kassim Murungi and Farahat Manirola were gold medalists on the Bombers team. Brenda Muduwa, Alfred Ojok, Edward Mukwaya and Samuel Ochen won Silver.

Erina Namutebi, Livingstone Matovu, Alex Kanaabi, Emmanuel Tabule, Angel Katushabe and Jimmy Adriko won bronze.
Uganda Boxing Federation President Moses Muhangi praised the team’s exceptional talent, skill, and determination, highlighting their hard work and dedication.

“Bringing home medals and accolades from such a prestigious championship is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our athletes and coaches,” he said.
The team is set to officially hand over their medals to the National Council of Sports next week and has expressed a desire to meet President Museveni to discuss better preparations for future events.

The Bombers are already looking ahead to their next challenge, the Islamic Games, where four boxers will represent Uganda.
