The Uganda Motocross national team, MX Cranes, got off to a rocky start at the 2025 FIM Motocross of African Nations championship in Harare, Zimbabwe. Despite taking 36 riders to the event, the team struggled on day one, with only team captain Gift Ssebuguzi delivering a decent performance.

Ssebuguzi’s Fifth-Place Finish
Ssebuguzi, the African defending champion in the MX85cc class, finished fifth in heat one, giving the team a glimmer of hope. As the team’s most experienced rider, Ssebuguzi’s performance will be crucial in Uganda’s bid to win the championship.

MX Cranes Seek Elusive Title
The MX Cranes have consistently finished in the top three in Africa and have been runners-up twice, but they are yet to claim the title since 2012 when Uganda hosted the championship. With two heats remaining tomorrow, the team will need to regroup and deliver better performances if they are to end their title drought.
