Uganda and rally driver Yasin Nasser chances of winning this year’s African Rally championship are in balance after a disappointing performance in the day one of Mkwawa Rally of Tanzania.

Nasser who faces stiff competition from Kenyans Samman Vohra and Karan Patel, both formidable forces in the ARC, found another stumbling block in Tanzanians Ahmed Huwel and Randeep Singh, who denied him from getting a top 3 day one finish.

Overall Nasser finished fifth while fourth on the ARC category. He clocked a total time of 01:08:16.7 hour with Vohra sweeping the day on a 01:03:27.7. Patel finished second on 01:03:40.6 followed by Huwel (01:06:03.3) as Singh posted 01:07:44.4 in the fourth place

The three-day Mkwawa Rally will cover 181 kilometers of competitive stages, navigating diverse Morogoro terrains like the TFS plantation area in Mkundi, totaling 326 kilometers. A total of six competitive stages has been done today with Nasser only left with tomorrow to correct his mistakes thus fighting for his goal of becoming the 2025 African Champion.

With the final ARC round being Mkwawa Rally of Tanzania, Nasser came into it leading with 118 points after Burundi, followed by Samman Vohra (106 points) and Nikhil Sachania (77 points).
