For Uganda’s Victoria Pearls, the upcoming bilateral T20 International Series against Canada is more than just another set of fixtures — it’s a statement of intent and a milestone in the team’s growing international journey.

From October 18 to 27, the Lugogo Oval will host the Victoria Series, an event that not only celebrates ICC Women’s Cricket Week but also marks the start of a new sporting partnership between Uganda and Canada. The two nations will share the stage in a contest that blends competition, development, and cultural exchange.

Cricket Uganda’s Honorary Secretary, Denis Musali, described the series as a bridge to greater opportunities. “This is not just about matches; it’s about growth, exposure, and building sustainable ties between our women’s cricket programs,” he said. “We’re thrilled to host Canada and to celebrate Women’s Cricket Week with meaningful engagement both on and off the pitch.”

For the Victoria Pearls, the timing couldn’t be better. With the ICC Women’s Emerging Trophy looming in November in Thailand, Head Coach Deus Muhumuza views the series as a crucial tune-up for his side. “We want to see how our players adapt under pressure, how they communicate, and how well our new combinations gel,” he noted. “This series is an ideal platform to fine-tune our approach ahead of a global challenge.”

Canada, ranked 31st in the world to Uganda’s 18th, arrives in Kampala with a point to prove. Head Coach Rizwan Cheema believes the unfamiliar African conditions will test his players and accelerate their development. “Uganda offers a different kind of challenge — new wickets, new weather, and a passionate crowd. It’s a fantastic opportunity for us to grow as a team,” he said.

Canadian captain Amarpal Kaur echoed the sentiment, calling the tour “an honour and a learning experience.” She added, “We respect Uganda as a formidable side, and we’re here to compete with pride, unity, and the spirit of the game.”

Beyond the runs and wickets, the Victoria Series carries a deeper purpose — one of collaboration and empowerment. As both nations look to nurture women’s cricket, this encounter could lay the groundwork for a long-term partnership that extends well past the boundaries of Lugogo Oval.
