UPDF FC, head coach Paul Kiwanuka has expressed confidence in his team’s preparations ahead of their Uganda Premier League clash against Lugazi FC on Friday evening at the Najjembe Stadium.
Speaking ahead of the highly anticipated matchday 23 encounter, Kiwanuka said his side is determined to close the gap on the relegation battle with a strong performance in their last encounter against second-placed NEC which ended in one all draw.

“We have done the preparations and our aim is to pick maximum points on Friday,” Kiwanuka stated.
“We know they are enjoying a good run this season especially at home but we want to close the gap between us to regelation Zone by giving our best in the remaining games.”
Lugazi come into this match after three back-to-back disappointing defeats to SC Villa, Maroons, and the Venoms, whereas UPDF come into the clash in good spirit after beating Wakiso Giants, and recently holding title chasers – NEC FC to a goalless draw six days ago.

The leaders are 11th placed on the Uganda premier league table while UPDF are 10th position. So, both sides convene for this encounter looking to climb up on the league table.
Two points separate them, and a win for the Leaders will see them leapfrog the visitors, and possibly settle in the 9th place.
The first meeting between the two teams was in mid-September last year at Bombo military grounds where Lugazi lost 1-0.
