The 2019 and 2023 Uganda National Rally Champion, Yasin Nasser is eager to get his first WRC Kenya Safari Rally after a successful shakedown run in sleeping warrior stage.

“We had to do one run to see how the car behaves but we promise you come the remaining days, Nemo will have a safari rally finish,” noted Yasin.

The last time Yasin participated in this event was last year putting on sticker number 35 but didn’t finish following a dreadful exit. He saw all his efforts disappear when he rolled the Ford Fiesta rally2 in SS7, Kedong stage.

“We are not giving up on Safari. Our preparations for the event remain the same as before and we are hopeful that this time we shall do much better. We are going to give it 99.9 per cent. Thankful to our sponsors that Nemo is firmly back on track. The team is ready,” he added.

The Safari Kenya Rally is the third round of the World Rally Championship as well as the first round of African Rally Championship.

Although the event is classified as a gravel one, it started with heavy rains causing low grip clay roads but eventually as time went on, the usual dust started to grow.

The event tomorrow, Thursday will start with a traditional ceremonial start at Nairobi before crews heading to Kenyatta International Convention Centre for a super special stage. Thereafter, they will do a new 8.27 kilometre Mzabibu test.
