2025 Africa Seniors Squash Championship Kicks Off with 11 Nations in Action

The 2025 Africa Seniors Squash Championship officially teed off on Monday, November 17th, at the Pearl of Africa Hotel in Kampala, with over 80 young talents from 11 countries, including hosts Uganda, Zambia, Rwanda, Nigeria, Egypt, Kenya, Zimbabwe, Sierra Leone, and Botswana. The six-day tournament will feature thrilling individual and team events.

The glamorous opening ceremony was graced by dignitaries, including Uganda Squash Federation President Mr. Tamwesigire John Bosco Ahimbisibwe, Africa Squash Federation President Mr. Mlilo Lucky, and representatives from the National Council of Sports (NCS).

“The Government of Uganda, through NCS, is proud to sponsor this historic championship,” said the USRA General Secretary, Madam Shiffah Natambi.

“Hosting the first-ever continental squash championship is a huge achievement, and we’re excited for Team Uganda to shine on home soil.”

With a total prize fund of $75,000, the stakes are high: $3,000 for individual winners and $4,000 for the winning team.

USRA President Mr. Ahimbisibwe extended gratitude to the government and invited all to “experience the thrill of squash and engage in shaping the sport’s future in Africa.” The event also includes an AGM and coaching course, promising a memorable experience at the Pearl of Africa.
