2025 UMEA Solidarity Games launched with over 40 Schools to Compete

UMEA Solidarity Games have been launched at Namagabi Secondary School in Kayunga, the hosting venue.

According to Hajji Lwembaawo Hussein, the General Secretary, the 2025 edition is expected to attract over 100 teams from over 40 schools of Islamic based faith.

Muslim founded Schools will compete in different sports disciplines including; Football, Badminton, Table Tennis, Volleyball, Handball among others in boys and girls category. This year’s edition, will see Mind Games such as Chess and Scrabble being included.

UMEA Games will kickoff on 18th April, 2025 (Good Friday) until 21st April (Easter Monday).

We have expanded our facilities to provide enough space for all the teams. – Hajji Kasirye Yusuf, the headteacher Namagabi Secondary School revealed.

“As Namagabi SS, we are more than blessed to be the hosts for this year’s edition of UMEA Solidarity Games. As soon as we were confirmed being so, we resumed our preparations to ensure we get the best competitions this year. We are fully prepared and everything is in place,” he said.

Hajji Twahil Kitezaala Muhammed, chairperson UMEA Solidarity Games said that, “This year’s edition will be the first to see Mind Games being included. These mind games will include chess and Scrabble at first to help boost students brains. We shall still have football, Girls Netball, volleyball, Handball, Badminton, Table Tennis.”
