The 2022 Masaza Cup champions, Busiro, have officially appointed Simon Ddungu as their new head coach.
Ddungu, popularly known as Dunga, joins Busiro after a short and difficult stint with Gomba Ssaza, where he was dismissed just weeks into the 2025 Masaza Cup campaign following a poor run of results.
Ddungu brings significant experience and success to Busiro, having won two Masaza Cup titles, in 2017 With Gomba Ssaza, defeating Ssingo Ssaza and 2024 With Buddu Ssaza, beating Kyaggwe Ssaza 1–0 at Mandela National Stadium.
Dungu replaces Denis Kiyimba ‘Mulangira who was in charge during the previous edition where they failed to progress beyond the group stage .

Ssingo Ssaza (2021, 2023).
Busiro, despite winning the title in 2022, struggled in the most recent edition and failed to progress beyond the group stage, prompting the coaching change.
Ddungu’s appointment signals Busiro’s intent to return to title contention. With a proven track record in the Masaza Cup, expectations will be high for him to quickly rebuild the team and deliver results.
