A total of forty-two (42) goals were scored during game week 16 of the betPawa futsal super league at the Old Kampala sports arena on Friday, 28th March 2025.
The betPawa Futsal Super League title race is reaching a thrilling climax! After gameweek 16, leaders Park FC and second-placed Mengo City maintained their dominance with crucial victories at the Old Kampala Futsal Arena.
With just six games left, the title race is on a knife’s edge. Park FC leads with 41 points, while Mengo City is right behind with 39. Every match is crucial as both teams battle for the championship.
The defending champions Park FC showcased resilience, coming from behind to thrash Edgars Youth Programme 6-1. Despite conceding in the 15th minute to an Alfred Feni strike, they roared back with a commanding performance.
Captain Shafiq Mulangira led the fightback, setting the tone for Park’s dominance. Michael Abura equalized before Mulangira fired his side ahead just before halftime.
The second half was an attacking masterclass, with Park scoring three goals in six minutes. Mulangira completed his hat-trick, while Joshua Aziku netted twice to seal a statement victory.
Mengo City’s clash with Kabuusu Clouds was a rollercoaster. Julius Ssenoga gave Clouds the lead in the 11th minute, but Abdulkarim Tebera quickly equalized. Samuel Omara then put Mengo ahead, only for Ssenoga’s brace to restore Clouds’ advantage at 3-2.
Omara struck again to level the game, but Gaddafi Bazanyanengo ensured Clouds led at halftime.
The second half belonged to Mengo City’s resilience. Male Anthony equalized in the 26th minute, before Ian Tugume’s quick-fire brace put them 6-4 up. Omara then completed his hat-trick, extending Mengo’s lead to 7-4. Despite late goals from Tonny Ssemwogerere and Bazanyanengo, Mengo City held on for their 12th win of the season, extending their unbeaten streak to 15 games.
In other games, Kisenyi FC ended a three-game winless run by defeating Kisugu 3-1. QC Mbarara secured their first win in six games with a 7-4 triumph over Lubaga Grameen. Kabowa Dream Team, boosted by a Vincent Kazibwe’s hat-trick, beat Crown Lubiri 4-2 to leapfrog them in the standings as Nansana ASKA sealed a routine 3-0 victory over Busunju Sparks.
