Team Uganda golf captain, Joseph Cwinyaai has attributed their success in the 2024 KCB East Africa Golf Tournament to mutual trust and collaboration. Uganda accumulated a total of 106 Stableford points to clinch the championship.
Cwinyaai, was part of the KCB Bank Uganda’s selected golfers alongside Peace Kabasweka, Abdul Kakeeto, and Martha Babirye, representing Toro and Uganda Golf Clubs. The team secured an impressive victory at the tournament, held at Sigona Golf Club on Friday.
“This victory is a testament to our teamwork and the belief we have in one another. We are excited to continue delivering strong performances in future tournaments,” Cwinyaai said.

They did compete against 230 golfers but Team Uganda managed to bring home the regional title and a grand prize of Kshs. 1 million.
“Last year I felt bad when they were announcing the winning team on the podium at Karen at the Grand Finale. I prayed to God and asked Him, what can’t I really do? I put myself in a winning mood and today I found myself on the podium…me and my team. We are happy that we have won a Ksh 1 million prize that will help to improve a golf club back home,” Cwinyaai added.
This victory, helped Team Uganda to have the honor of competing in the 2025 Magical Ladies Open at Vipingo Ridge in Kilifi County, Kenya.
The Nyanza quartet of Jotem Pabari, Preshant Thakar, Ramesh Karia, and Aamit Shah finished with 106 points, but narrowly lost on countback to take the runners-up place.
