For KCCA Netball Club, the 2025 season was less about promises and more about purpose. From the first whistle of the campaign, the Lugogo-based side set about reshaping their identity from perennial contenders to champions-in-waiting driven by structure, patience and a growing sense that this could finally be their year.
That belief was rewarded on a tense final day at Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo, where KCCA edged Prisons Netball Club 44–41 in a high-stakes showdown that encapsulated their season: hard-fought, composed under pressure and decided by collective resolve. The victory sealed KCCA’s first-ever national league title, a landmark achievement for a club that has steadily built towards this moment.
Rather than individual brilliance alone,
On the sidelines, head coach Fred Mugerwa quietly marked a personal breakthrough of his own. Since taking charge in 2018, he has preached continuity and trust—and in 2025, that philosophy bore fruit.

The absence of captain Irene Eyaru, a key figure in the shooting circle, could have derailed their campaign but instead, it revealed the squad’s depth, with others stepping up seamlessly to keep the title push on course.
By season’s end, the numbers told a compelling story: 22 wins from 24 matches, just one defeat, and 45 points—enough to fend off serial champions NIC, who finished a single point adrift in second place.
For KCCA Netball Club, this championship is more than silverware. It is validation of years of steady growth and a clear signal that a new force has arrived at the summit of Ugandan netball.
