NAIROBI – Kenyan giants Gor Mahia have officially bid farewell to their midfield maestro and captain Austin Odhiambo, who has completed a high-profile move to Lebanese side Nejmeh SC.

The deal, reportedly worth KES 8 Million (Approx. UGX 225 Million), marks one of the most significant outgoing transfers in East African football this window.

The “Rolls Royce” Heads North
Odhiambo, nicknamed “The Rolls Royce” for his technical elegance, has been the creative heartbeat of the record Kenyan champions. After leading Gor Mahia to back-to-back league titles and being crowned the 2023/24 League MVP, the 25-year-old was entering the final months of his contract.

By securing UGX 225 Million for the playmaker, Gor Mahia has pulled off a masterstroke in the market. At Nejmeh, Odhiambo joins fellow Kenyan internationals Teddy Akumu and Masoud Juma in a squad currently managed by Tunisian coach Radhi Jaïdi.

Replacement Found? The Brian Michira Link
With the captain’s spot vacant and a significant transfer kitty in hand, Gor Mahia is reportedly ready to raid fellow Premier League side Shabana FC for their talisman, Brian Michira.

Michira has been in scintillating form for Tore Bobe, establishing himself as one of the most prolific midfielders in Kenya. Last season, he netted an impressive 17 goals (12 in the league and 5 in the cup), a feat that earned him a late call-up to the Harambee Stars squad for the CHAN tournament.
