Heathens Rugby Club have strengthened their backline options with the arrival of Emma Odoi, who joins the Kyadondo-based side from Jinja Hippos in what is shaping up to be another calculated move in the transfer window.
Comfortable at both inside centre (#12) and fly half, Odoi brings versatility, game management and defensive steel to a Heathens squad already stacked with experience. His signing adds depth and competition in key playmaking positions as the club sharpens its edge for the upcoming season.
Speaking after linking up with his new teammates, Odoi cited the quality within the Heathens camp as the biggest factor behind his decision. He was quick to praise the club’s recruitment drive and the presence of several national-team players in the squad.
“What attracted me here is the quality in this team. Many of the boys have national team experience and I want to learn from them,” Odoi said, expressing appreciation to the club’s management for assembling a competitive group.
Odoi also revealed that his early impressions of life at Heathens have been overwhelmingly positive, describing his first training session as intense and driven by hunger for success.
“The training environment is very motivating. Everyone wants it badly,” he noted. “I already feel at home, and I believe we can have a great season. Personally, I want to win everything.”
With his creativity in attack, willingness to defend hard and hunger to compete, Odoi’s arrival adds another layer to the Heathens’ ambitions, as the club continues to fine-tune a squad built not just to challenge, but to dominate.
