Uganda’s national women’s football team has officially kicked off its journey toward the 2026 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup after head coach Sheryl Ulanda Botes named a provisional squad for the upcoming qualifiers.

The Queens Cranes will face Zambia in a two-legged tie that will determine who progresses to the next phase of qualification. Uganda will enjoy home advantage in the opening leg, scheduled for February 7, 2026, at FUFA Stadium in Kadiba, before traveling to Zambia for the return fixture on February 14.

With the stakes high, Botes has assembled a 32-player squad to begin intensive preparations. The players are expected to report on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at FUFA House in Mengo early in the morning before relocating to the FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru for a residential training camp.
