Vipers SC underlined their title credentials with a ruthless 4-0 demolition of Buhimba United Saints, a result that stretched their lead at the top of the Uganda Premier League to six points.

The Venoms wasted no time asserting themselves, striking inside the opening minute through skipper Milton Karisa, who finished off a well-worked move initiated by Chukwuma Odili. From that moment on, it was one-way traffic as Vipers dominated possession and territory, pinning Buhimba deep in their own half.

A second goal arrived before the quarter-hour mark through Abdulkarim Watambala strike off Adii assist , further denting the visitors’ resistance, before Vipers turned the contest into a rout just before the break with a third goal from Karisa in the 38th minute off Usama Arafat effectively killed the game. Buhimba barely threatened, failing to register a meaningful touch inside the hosts’ penalty area throughout the first half.

After the restart, the hosts maintained their tempo despite a series of substitutions. The fourth goal came just past the hour mark off substitute Walusimbi Abubakali’s 61rd minute strike, capitalising on defensive hesitancy, as Vipers’ depth and sharpness continued to tell.

Buhimba tried to reorganise and limit further damage, but Vipers remained comfortable, creating chances at will and controlling the closing stages with ease until the final whistle.

The emphatic win saw table leaders Vipers open a six-point cushion over second-placed KCCA, who were scheduled to face UPPC later in the day. For Buhimba United Saints, the defeat left them 12th on the log with 13 points, still looking over their shoulder as the season progresses.
