National Basketball League Today, Lugogo
UCU Lady Canons v Magic Stormers – 7:00 pm
UCU Canons v Nam Blazers – 9:00 pm
UCU Canons will aim to build early-season momentum when they face Namuwongo Blazers at Lugogo Indoor Stadium on Friday night.
While the Canons arrive buoyed by a commanding 79-64 win over league newcomers UMU Flames, the Blazers are under pressure to respond after stumbling in their opener against the City Oilers. Defensive lapses and struggles against the zone exposed cracks in the Blazers’ system, leaving plenty to fix ahead of this contest.

The Mukono-based Canons showed pace and fluidity in transition in their first outing, with Jimmy Otim and Flore Dushime setting the tempo. However, facing a more seasoned Blazers roster will demand sharper decision-making, especially from team leader Zac Ekirapa, who is expected to battle physically in the paint.
For the Blazers, offensive efficiency will be key. Perimeter shooters Ivan Muhwezi and Innocent Ochera could play a central role if the Canons opt for a compact defensive setup. Inside, James Okello and Arthur Wanyoto may be called upon to assert dominance and slow the game down.
In the women’s division, the UCU Lady Canons return to action against Magic Stormers. The Lady Canons cruised through their opener and will be keen to maintain that rhythm. The Stormers, meanwhile, must raise their intensity after a flat performance against UPDF Tomahawks if they are to compete with one of the early pacesetters.
