Uganda Premier League Today, 4pm
UPPC v Mbarara
Buhimba v Police
At 8pm
Vipers v NEC
Momentum, not mathematics, could define the Uganda Premier League race when Vipers SC return to action under the Kitende floodlights tonight.
After surrendering points in a 1-1 draw away to BUL, the league leaders are less concerned about the chasing pack and more focused on rediscovering the sharp edge that powered their flawless January run. The Venoms had strung together five straight victories before that slip, a sequence that underlined their championship credentials.
Much of their resurgence has revolved around the electric form of Abdulkarim Watambala. The attacking midfielder has been central to Vipers’ attacking rhythm, weighing in with six goals in five league matches and dictating tempo in the final third. His influence will again be crucial against a confident NEC FC side.

NEC arrive in buoyant mood after dismantling KCCA 3-1 in their previous outing, a result that reaffirmed their growing belief. Richard Basangwa’s brace in that derby highlighted their attacking threat, but consistency remains their biggest test.
History suggests a tight affair. The reverse fixture ended 1-1, proof that NEC can frustrate elite opposition. But at St. Mary’s Stadium, where Vipers have been dominant this season, the Venoms will expect a statement performance rather than a cautious one.
For the hosts, this is less about who is chasing and more about reasserting control of their own narrative in the title race.
