Kenyan Premier League giants Tusker FC are poised to enter a sophisticated new chapter with the imminent unveiling of Frenchman Julien Mette as their new head coach.

In a move that signals the Brewers’ intent to reclaim regional dominance, Mette will be supported by a familiar face in East African football—Harambee Stars assistant coach Anthony Kimani, who joins as his deputy.

A French Touch with East African Flavor, Mette arrives at Ruaraka with a resume that reads like a map of African football. Most notably for regional fans, he enjoyed a successful stint in Rwanda with Rayon Sports in 2024, where he was hailed for his tactical flexibility and high-octane attacking style.

His journey through the continent has seen him lift league titles with AS Otoho in Congo-Brazzaville and lead the Djibouti National Team, making him one of the most experienced “foreign” hands currently working in the CECAFA zone.

Ugandan international, Denis Iguma who joined Tusker in 2025, has been a pillar of stability for the Brewers. Capable of slotting into central defense, right-back, or his preferred defensive midfield role, Iguma is expected to be Mette’s “on-field general.”

Mette is known for favoring experienced, tactically disciplined players who can organize a backline—a description that fits Iguma perfectly.

As Tusker looks to bridge the gap in the FKF Premier League title race, Iguma’s leadership under Mette’s new system will be vital.
