KCCA FC resume their Uganda Premier League campaign with a trip to Hoima on Monday to face Buhimba United Saints FC at Royals Park, Butema. The Lugogo outfit will be aiming to build on recent performances and secure a second win over the Saints this season after edging them 1-0 in the first-round meeting at MTN Omondi Stadium.

KCCA sit fifth on the table and are pushing to close the gap on the teams above them, while Buhimba remain deep in the relegation battle in 14th place. The visitors head into the contest boosted by midseason additions, with Kennedy Muserero available for selection in Hoima as Axel Mezui awaits completion of his paperwork. The new signings are expected to strengthen the attacking options and increase competition within the squad. Bright Anukani also earns his first league match-day call-up of the season, adding further creativity to the side, though assistant captain Derrick Nsibambi continues his recovery from a knee injury.

This will be only the second top-flight meeting between the two teams, with KCCA holding a slight edge following their narrow victory earlier in the campaign. Despite that clean sheet, the Kasasiro Boys have conceded in their last three league outings and are determined to halt a three-match winless run away from home. Buhimba, meanwhile, have struggled defensively, conceding 36 goals so far, and have found it difficult to score freely, failing to register more than once in any of their last seven league matches.

Senior player Fillbert Obenchan has stressed the team’s determination to approach the fixture with focus and belief, noting that the squad is motivated to compete strongly despite the challenge of playing away.

“Our mentality remains the same; we want to compete and win every game we play. We know Buhimba will be a tough nut to crack at their home, but we are ready for the challenge. I am also personally happy with the arrival of Axel and Muserero. Their energy in training has been amazing, and I believe they will help us push for our goals this season”.

Co-head coach Jackson Magera has echoed those sentiments, urging his players to show aggression in duels and maintain composure in front of goal against a side fighting to preserve its top-flight status.

“In games like this, it is about showing up and fighting for every 50/50 chance. Buhimba is fighting for their lives, so we must be better and be clinical. We welcome Axel and Muserero to the club. They will add so much to the team’s depth and tactical flexibility”.
