Magogo praises Cranes’ fans for their significant support in 2024

FUFA President Hon. Moses Magogo today at FUFA Complex addressed the media about the current state of football in the country. He has lauded the fans who cheered and supported national teams through out the year in both home and away matches.

“It is an opportunity to thank the fans this year we are back at Mandela National Stadium,Namboole. The supporters of the Uganda Cranes that have come to the stadium thank you so much. Thank you for coming through always and supporting the players and the team.”

“The Ugandans who supported us in our away games against South Africa, Congo Braziville and South Sudan we had more fans in the all stadium and the result we got had everything to do with the Ugandan community living there”.

“They mobilized themselves, showed us love. I can only say thank you so much for loving your country, loving football, you are part of this journey. All Ugandans and non-Ugandans supporting the national team here and in the diaspora, those who watched on television and those who were following on their phones from wherever they were, we can only thank you and say without you this result may be would not have been achievable.”

The national football teams managed to play total of 41 international matches in 2024 with Uganda Cranes playing 13. Uganda qualified for AFCON 2025 and most recently 2025 U17 AFCON. The Uganda Hippos earned silver at the African Games in Ghana while the Queen Cranes got bronze at the same event.

The New year FUFA President address was graced by FUFA 1st Vice President, Justus Mugisha, FUFA EXCO Member Sam Mpiima, FUFA Deputy CEO- Governance Sam Bakiika, FUFA Deputy CEO-Football Decolas Kiiza, FUFA Communications Director Ahmed Hussein, FUFA Football Development Director Ali Mwebe, National Teams Manager Patrick Ntege and FUFA Legal Manager Denis Lukambi among others.
