URA v Maroons
Mbarara City’s battle to stay afloat in the Uganda Premier League takes centre stage again on Wednesday when they welcome Express to Rwamanja Stadium in Kamwenge, in a fixture that carries heavy implications at both ends of the table.
The Ankole Lions are in deep trouble, with results continuing to slip away at a critical stage of the season. They are winless in nine consecutive league matches, a run that has left them hovering dangerously close to the relegation zone on 18 points, just three above the drop.
Their last victory came on February 12, a narrow 1-0 win over bottom-placed Calvary in Kamwenge. Since then, it has been a difficult stretch marked by six defeats and three draws. Their most recent outing summed up their struggles, as they surrendered a two-goal advantage to settle for a 2-2 draw against Maroons.

Despite that resilience in patches, Mbarara City continue to lack the consistency needed to pull away from danger, and pressure is mounting with every passing fixture.
Express, on the other hand, arrive with ambitions of their own. Sitting 9th on 30 points, the Red Eagles are still within reach of a top-eight finish, but their momentum has slowed at a crucial stage. They are winless in their last two matches, and their recent five-game unbeaten run was brought to an end by BUL in their previous outing.
With both sides searching for a turning point—Mbarara City desperate for survival points and Express chasing a strong finish—the encounter in Kamwenge sets up as a tense and unpredictable contest.
