KCCA v Maroons
KCCA FC head into their league meeting with Maroons FC under mounting pressure, knowing anything short of victory could finally extinguish their fading title hopes.
The Lugogo side have seen their momentum disappear at the worst possible time. A painful late equaliser in the 1-1 draw against Vipers SC came just days after a disappointing defeat away to Calvary FC in Midigo, leaving KCCA seven points off the summit with only a handful of matches remaining.
With league leaders Vipers not playing until Friday against URA FC, KCCA have an opportunity to pile pressure on the top of the table, but their squad concerns continue to grow.
Midfielder Said Mayanja misses the encounter through suspension after accumulating bookings, while Derrick Nsibambi and Bright Anukani remain sidelined with injuries. There is, however, a timely boost with James Mubeezi available again after a lengthy spell out injured.
For Maroons, the trip to Lugogo presents a chance to continue an impressive run of form that has quietly pushed them into contention for a top-eight finish. The Luzira-based side have lost only once in their last nine matches, with their sole setback coming against NEC FC.
The reverse fixture between the two sides ended goalless in Luzira, and Maroons will draw confidence from a recent record that suggests they can frustrate the 13-time champions again.
Historically, KCCA have dominated the fixture, winning 12 of the previous 21 meetings, while Maroons have managed three victories with six matches ending level.
